Short Description of Instrument |
The Questionnaire About Buying Behavior (QABB) is a 19-item self-rated questionnaire that assesses buying behaviors based on the McElroy Diagnostic Criteria for Compulsive Buying.

Comments/Special Instructions |
This questionnaire has not been used in PD. It does not measure severity. This questionnaire is recommended as Supplemental since there is not a PD-specific measure for compulsive buying.

Scoring and Psychometric Properties |
Scoring: The patient must answer 19 yes or no questions that represent basic features of compulsive buying. Subjects with a score greater than nine are considered compulsive buyers.
Psychometric Properties: No psychometrics available.

Rationale/Justification |
Strengths: The questionnaire is based on McElroy Diagnostic Criteria for Compulsive Buying and assesses the behavior itself and its consequences.
Weaknesses: It is not validated in PD, McElroy criteria based on DSM-III-R.
